Tom Walz joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School as an Assistant Professor in 1999. He obtained his Ph.D. degree from the University of Basel (Switzerland) in 1996 and carried out his postdoctoral research at the University of Sheffield (U.K.), where he became a BBSRC David Phillips Research Fellow in 1998.  In September of 2015, he joined the faculty at Rockefeller University and was appointed a Visiting Professor at HMS.
