Malcolm Whitman received his PhD from Harvard in 1985 working on phosphatidylinositol kinases with Lew Cantley. After postdoctoral studies at Harvard with Doug Melton studying signaling in embryogenesis, he joined the faculty at Harvard Medical School in 1992.
